JOLTS Report - The Job Market is Not That Hot

Job openings have dropped... 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁... down to their lowest level since January 2021, and if you’re still thinking this is temporary, NGL, it’s time to rethink all of that. 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝟳.𝟲𝟳 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆.𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬 𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝟏.𝟕𝟔 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑.Layoffs are hitting tech hard still, but it’s not just a Silicon Valley issue. This downturn is spreading across multiple sectors. I watch 8-K fillings to see the writing on the wall (yeah, I'm a bit of a geek.) I watch all angles of the job market - have for the past 15 years - and hear a lot of bits and pieces from all industries-- that just make it add up. I'm not saying I can see the future, but YEAH... I can see what is happening or about to, and that is the same thing. This is part of how I guide my clients into the right career paths.

AND yes, this chart I added does have a point.... With the current losses from FDIC backed investments in the chart below- you have to look at that and wonder, OMG if layoffs keep happening in Tech, Finance and Real Estate -- what is this looking like for unemployment levels overall? Do I think that end of December/January is gong to be bad.... yeah, I do. The stats are already showing. Look into it for yourself!The U.S. job market is going through a weird phase and you have automation/AI on top of all that causing a bit of chaos. Companies are MAJORLY changing their approach to hiring. Fewer jobs mean fiercer competition and greater uncertainty for job seekers. It's not a doom outlook really- it's more of a wake up call - that is how I hope you see it. 𝗔𝘀 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲: 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲—𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲.The luxury of waiting for the job market to “bounce back”? Those days are over.
